Global Warming and Water-Cycle.

Global Warming and Water-Cycle.
An Abstract:-
We all might have observed our Mother’s boil a kettle of water but this may have least concerned us. For certainly we all do know the fact that by boiling water we destroy the virulent bacteria and the microscopic germs which are harmful to our health and also fatal for our lives. We do not blame her or question her for killing these deadly microbes nor are we worked up against our mothers for such life saving deeds. We know that ‘Heating up’ acts like an agent by disinfecting the bacteria and thus protects the purity of the water. Then why do we blame our mother earth for the catastrophes that have occurred due to global warming? As Microbes contaminate and pollute the crystal clean purity of the water likewise our existence has profaned the sanctity of the beautiful Mother Earth. We are the Germs who are profaning the sanctity of the Mother Earth. Then why should not she maintain her pure state by warming up and destroy ‘Us – the germs’ who are responsible for desecrating her rich and verdant beauty?

Introduction:-
Environment means the biotic and abiotic habitats that surround us. The abiotic consists of soil, water and air, while the biotic habitat consists of all organisms including human beings, plants, animals, insects, bacteria and viruses. The activities of Human Beings affect the environment such as Pollution, Deforestation, Desertification, Soil-erosion, Climate –change etc. These result from human activities and the most affected among these is the WATER-CYCLE.
Water was always on this Earth. Water was plentiful throughout most of Earth’s history, for about three billion years. Geological evidences suggest that Earth used to be covered by ice about 600-700 million years ago. Today Water has been scarce and thus has been a cause of concern all over the planet. Evidence for Climate Change is
stacking up! There is an increase in, more frequent heat waves, Sea level rise, more frequent flooding, Length of freeze free season, Length of growing season, wetter winters and drier summers. Similarly there is a decrease in Extent of mountain, glaciers, Sea-ice amounts and thickness, number of frosts. The increasing temperature has affected the water cycle and thus some parts of the planet are badly hit due to lack of water.

The Water Cycle:-
The water cycle (known scientifically as the hydrologic cycle) refers to the continuous exchange of water within the hydrosphere, between the atmosphere, soil water, surface water, groundwater, and plants. Water moves perpetually through each of these regions in the water cycle consisting of following transfer processes:
Evaporation: - When the sun changes water into water vapor, this is called EVAPORATION. The sun warms the water in the ocean, causing it to change from water (liquid) to water vapor (gas). Evaporation from oceans and other water bodies into the air and transpiration from land plants and animals into air is called evaporation.
Transpiration: - Water moves from bodies of water to the atmosphere through evaporation when it changes from a liquid to a gas. Plants also release water as a gas through a process called transpiration.
Condensation: - Water vapor forms clouds. When water vapor forms clouds this is called CONDENSATION. Tiny water droplets bounce around in the cloud. As they hit each other, they stick together and become larger. Precipitation: - Once this water vapor becomes very heavy, the cloud can no longer hold them. It begins to precipitate. For example Rain and snow. These get collected in rivers, lakes, oceans.
In Short Sun warms ocean water causing it to EVAPORATE. Water vapor CONDENSES to form clouds. Clouds become very heavy before beginning to PRECIPITATE. Precipitation collects in rivers, lakes, and oceans. The sun warms ocean water…thus the water cycle continues.

The Effects of Climate Change and Water Cycle:-
Today it’s been a different story because of global warming this cycle is been disturbed and the fate of the earth is at stake. The increasing heat has caused much harm like for example :- Draught, Melting of Glaciers, Glacier retreat and disappearance, Temperature Rise,, Increased Evaporation, Acidification, Acid Rains, Forest Fires, Retreat of Sea Ice, desertification, Water Scarcity , Heat Waves, Sea Level Rise etc.
The earth is warming up at an alarming rate and most people are least concerned about it. This rise in temperature takes place when the earth’s atmospheric temperature increases, that is caused by the increase of particular greenhouse gases [GHG] – chiefly carbon dioxide, but also methane, nitrous oxide, Ozone and chlorofluorocarbons. Since half a century, the proportion of Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has risen by 25 percent. These GH gases are responsible to catalyze the warming of the earth's atmosphere by tapping heat, which in turn results in the green house effect. Presently the rate of global temperature has increased by half a degree centigrade and can create havoc if precautionary steps are not taken in the near future. This in turn has affected the water cycle too.
Conclusion:-
These are the intimations of the earth's protest against us. It is a call for all of us to mend our ways and do the soul-destroying activities that would save our planet. The blue and white jewel of our solar system has not remained the same but has become a home for several highly toxic gasses. Our irresponsibility towards nature can escalate into the destruction of the world. Therefore we have to make a life or death decision to preserve the human race. Let us not maintain a façade of indifference towards the environment. Instead, Work hand in hand to incur the loss that we have made on our Planet. Let us Give Mother Earth a Chanc
